MUSIC REGION NEW ENGLAND NORTH WEST NSW
MUSIC REGION NEW ENGLAND NORTH WEST takes to the road in 2021 with a bundle of great community initiatives.
An umbrella collective/organisation/online directory uniting outstanding independent, professional musicians in the region building upon a strong tradition. It's amazing to see the amount of sheer progress behind the scenes this year, with so many banding together in support.
Many Thanks to all collaborating organisations, sponsors & funding bodies who have supported the development of projects for 2020/21: private sponsors & donors, Regional Arts NSW, New England Writers' Centre - NEWC & their partner Create NSW, SBS German, ABC Radio Australia, Arts North West, Bellingen Shire Arts Week, Sydney Improvised Music Association.
MRNENW is currently starting a major fundraising drive, "The 12 days of Christmas," to assist in its delivery of fantastic community-based programs in 2021. Program delivery starts January 11th, 2021 and we need your assistance more than ever in the current era of privatisation. AUSTRALIAN CULTURAL FUND is an excellent initiative allowing online fundraising with TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donations issued in the form of grants to the artists through Creative Partnerships Australia. "SOUNDS LIKE NEW ENGLAND NORTH WEST" // ARTS NORTH WEST NSW
It's been fun exploring my home region once again! New ears, old ears. Funded through Arts North West's second micro-grants round in 2020, SOUNDS LIKE NEW ENGLAND NORTH WEST brings a range of natural recordings from around the region together, intertwined with improvised & written instrumental pieces for clarinets, soprano saxophone, percussion, voice & electroacoustic sounds in a series of "Postcards from Home." A solo pandemic project exploring my home region and its sound world, the series of mini-postcards will be published as part of the new website Music Region New England North West, launching soon. Updates to follow.
Appreciation goes to ARTS NORTH WEST for their regional assistance during 2020 and the pandemic.
